Have you tried this? How to Elevate & Optimize your Drainage and Detox Journey

Drainage, detox, and fascia… three subjects that are extremely popular right now in the holistic health community, and for an honestly good reason.

Drainage, detox, and fascia are completely interconnected and I want to tell you more about how and why integrating each of these subjects into your healing protocol will allow for optimal success. But first, I want to tell you a little bit more about my CFT experience.

Like some of you who may be reading this right now, I recently became very intrigued in this body work called CFT: craniosacral fascial therapy. I started hearing about it through some popular root cause practitioners, Margaret Barry and Madison Yount. I saw videos and heard stories about the miraculous changes people had made after just one CFT session.

I had to learn more.

So I started looking into attending a formal training, but couldn’t find any within 6 hours from my home. When I saw that there would be a training in Nashville (a 7 hour drive for me), I decided to go for it – but it was fully booked. I got waitlisted and was told it was basically impossible that I would be in this training because I was number 18 on the list. But God had other plans, and just about two weeks later, I had a spot in the Gillespie Approach: CFT training in Nashville!

And when I say that this training, and just CFT itself, is everything everyone raves about and more– I mean it. CFT is the most intuitive, gentle, yet effective, body work I have ever experienced.

CFT is a combination of cranial sacral therapy, myofascial release, and dental techniques to gently unwind and release fascia, optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid for proper nourishment and detox of the entire body system.

The fascia itself is the body’s connective tissue. It provides connection and communication throughout the body. The best way to describe it is as a web, protecting and encompassing the muscles, organs, nerves, blood, and body as a whole.

Fascia may become tight or strained due to several factors such as trauma, stress, dental work, birth, emotions, posture, and more.

CFT involves placing an intuitive touch from the body worker to the client and unwinding and releasing that fascia when it is ready and able.

So how does CFT relate to drainage, detox, and fascia?

First of all, fascial strain in certain areas of the body could impair drainage. For example, if there is significant fascial strain or tension in the abdomen, then constipation, abdominal pain, and malformed bowel movements could occur. Addressing and unwinding this tension with CFT could help optimize the bowel drainage pathway. Secondly, CFT helps optimize detoxification through the actual removal of toxins out of the fascial web. As you implement detox and drainage protocols, you should be doing a combination of herbs, homeopathy, binders, biofilm busters, and physical movement– depending on what your practitioner is recommending. CFT enhances all of these modalities, as it helps bring the nourishment and productivity of these supplements to each and every cell, while also pulling toxins out of these areas, and into circulation for removal.

Drainage supplements and targeted binders may need to be implemented during CFT work to provide optimal results. Personally, my favorite overall drainage support is:

Drainage Essentials by Core Formulas

“Drainage Essentials is an herbal formula for a wide range of symptoms that correlate with slow, stagnant or poor drainage in the body. By supporting drainage pathways, you naturally increase the body’s ability to detox waste products and prevent the accumulation of unwanted pathogens, debris and toxins.” - Core Formulas

Proper hydration and mineral support should also be implemented alongside craniosacral fascial therapy.

Additionally, I find CFT extremely helpful for the restorative aspect of healing from chronic illness. Increasing the blood flow throughout the body, while decreasing tension and strain really allows for better communication throughout the body. CFT helps support the nervous system and nerve communication. It also allows for more spacial and body awareness, which is something that may be impaired for someone who has experienced trauma or is stuck in a trauma or stress response state. Improving this communication in the body will help improve digestion and brain function, while also reducing pain, anxiety, and fatigue.

Lastly, most root cause practitioners are aware of the trauma and emotional connection that creates a higher susceptibility for mold illness, parasites, and other pathogens to invade the body. CFT directly addresses trapped emotions and trauma– because even if our mind does not remember these tragic and traumatic events that occurred, our fascia does. Our body keeps the score. And CFT can help release that trauma and emotion, directly from our fascia– which will in turn, allow us to heal more effectively, and reduce our susceptibility to these stressors.

Personally, I had an extremely beneficial emotional release during my training in Nashville. As one of the other mom’s who was learning with me began working on my throat, I had an emotional release related to thoughts about restriction in that area. And without getting further into personal details, I will say that that release was a big step into my own personal healing journey.

I truly think that ANYONE could benefit from CFT, but I especially see the benefits as a root cause + holistic health practitioner in the aspect of moving out toxins from the fascia, optimizing drainage, and addressing underlying trapped emotions that may have been impairing healing.
